Welcome to the NEST

Considered the most well liked and most social club in London, the Putney Magpies have 3 teams that compete in the local AFL London competition with a team to suit a variety of different levels and abilities.

Over the last few years, we have been quietly developing into one of the top teams, culminating in our first Premiership Grand Final in 2008, the Minor Premiership in 2009 and another Grand Final appearance in 2010.

Our culture is built around enjoying your time as part of the club, on and off the field. There is no better way to find potential contacts for work and travel  in London than by having a beer and a run with a bunch of great blokes at the Pies. We are a laid back club consisting of Aussie guys (and English) who still want to have a kick of the footy while exploring Europe.

The strength of the club in built on our developing list of British based players with many of them representing Great Britain at the 2008 & 2011 International Cup in Melbourne, Australia. These players come from a variety of backgrounds including Football (soccer), Rugby Union, Basketball and Gaelic Football.

Pre-season training usually commences the last weekend of January is every Sunday at 1pm in South Park or Hurlingham Park in Parsons Green. View Larger Map In the Summer months, training is every Tuesday/Thursday at 6.30pm from April until August (depending on finals) and games are played every Saturday at our home ground at Putney Heath.

So if you want a bogan with a mullet yelling at you either at training or during a game then I am sorry don’t come to Putney because we don’t have that type of culture. Fortunately, we are a little more laid back and well suited to Aussie Rules in London.
